LAHORE - Tandlianwala-born left winger Rashid Noor fired the lone 56th minute goal as Sahiwal managed 1-0 win over NWFP to win the final of National U13 Festival of Football at Model Town Football Academy (MTFA) Ground on Friday afternoon. Lahore Nazim Mian Amer Mehmood was chief guest of the match who said that the event for young generation at Lahore reflect on the zeal and spirit of the PFF and MTFA for the cause of Provincials harmony and unity. He said the event is, undoubtedly, a step towards strengthening ties and fraternity and friendship between people of different regions of Pakistan. "The activity of sports is of the highest essence for the all-round transformation of our society into a healthy community. Not only does it give a lifetime physical fitness and mental discipline but also the virtues of character, self-esteem and integrity," he said and added that presence of PFF's Secretary General Lt. Col (r) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, Director Operation Wng Cmdr (r) Pervez Saeed Mir and Director Finance Nadia Naqvi confirmed that PFF's officials are committed to their duties. The tense, absorbing match saw both the teams missing three sure chances in the first half. Wajid Ullah, Naheed Ullah and Asad Khan failed to capitalize on 5th, 17th and 33rd minute while Rashid Noor (twice) and Bilal once failed to accomplish the task as Usman Khan was in brilliant touch below bar. Saeed Ullah-coached NWFP, despite being under dogs, put up stubborn display as it was 0-0 at interval. Sahiwal, in blue/white color, took the field with new game plan in second session under Noman Ibrahim and snatched the match winner in the 14th minute of session. A left flank free-kick caused panic on the edge of NWFP area and Rashid Noor lobbed the ball towards cage. Keeper Usman missed the flight of the ball that fell behind him. It turned out to be the lone goal of the final. According to MTFA's President Mian Rizwan Ali, Rs.1,25,000 cash award distributed to teams and individuals on the direction of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)'s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat . Sahiwal's skipper Muhammad Bilal took the winning trophy and gold medals from Lahore Nazim , also MTFA's Chairman, in addition to Rs. 50,000. NWFP's captain Muhammad Nadeem had to content with silver medals and Rs.20,000. Punjab took third-placed trophy and Rs.20,000 through impressive captain Adnan Ayub. Balochistan's Muhammad Ibrahim was adjudged Most Valuable Player (MVP) and he pocketted Rs. 5,000 while leading marksman Muhammad Bilal (Sahiwal, 7 goals) and best goal-keeper Bannu-born Usman Khan (NWFP) also took Rs. 5,000 each. In order to promote Sportsmanship, PFF Chief had also decided to hand over Rs.10,000 to winner of Fair Play trophy and Model Town Football Academy deserved the award with sportsmanship throughout nine-day show. The final was supervised by Ghulam Muhammad Samad (Quetta), supported on the line by Shahid Hussain (Okara), Akhtar Hussain (Sargodha), Fiaz Siddiqui (4th Official) under Match Commissioner Arif Siddiqui and Referee Assessor Rauf Bari.
