LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that metro bus is a splendid public welfare project which has been completed in a record time.
Presiding over a meeting regarding the Metro Bus Service (MBS) at Model Town Wednesday, the chief minister said the MBS project was a unique example of transparency and such a project had never been executed in 65 years history of the country.
Shahbaz said the project would be inaugurated on February 10 at a simple but graceful ceremony and arrangements were being finalised for this purpose.
The chief minister also thanked the Turk President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan and Mayor Istanbul Kadir Tobpas for their cooperation for the project. He directed concerned authorities to make foolproof arrangements for the inaugural ceremony.
MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Pervez Malik, Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and others were present. The meeting reviewed the pace of the project in detail.
PSCS gets new office bearers: The Pakistan Surgical Cancer Society (PSCS) elected its new office bearers for the year 2013-14 at the closing ceremony of national cancer surgery conference held on Wednesday. In the closing session, Prof Arshad Cheema chaired a meeting of the executive committee of the Society and announced new elected body for the session 2013-14.
Prof Zafar Ali Chaudhry has been elected new president of the Society, Dr Tayyab Abbas general secretary, Dr Ayesha Shaokat lady general secretary, Dr Amar Ali Syed senior vice president, Prof Mehmood Ayaz vice president, Dr Khalid Cheema finance secretary, Dr Muhammad Latif clinical secretary, Dr Usman Imtiaz media coordinator and Prof Khalid Durani was elected as pattern of the PSCS. The PSCS organised the conference largely participated by cancer specialists from the country and abroad.
PU to organise “Qirato Naat competition”: Punjab University Directorate of Students Affair is organizing “Muqabla Husne Qirato Naat” on Thursday (today) at Centre for Undergraduate Studies. For regular candidates, the last date for submission of admission forms with single fee is 07-03-2013 (by hand) and 28-02-2013 (by post) while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 14-03-2013 (by hand) and 07-03-2013 (by post).
For private candidates, the last date for submission of admission forms with single fee is 19-03-2013 (by hand) and 11-03-2013 (by post) while the forms can be submitted with double fee till 01-04-2013 (by hand) and 25-03-2013 (by post).
