'Ali Baba and his 40 Thieves looting Pakistan: Sana

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan has said the press conference of Sheikh Haris Afzal arranged at the behest of those who robbed the Punjab Bank is an attempt to influence the proceedings of Supreme Court. In a press statement issued here on Monday, Rana Sana said the statement of Sheikh Haris Afzal was contradictory to the confessional statement of his father. He also said the confessional statement of Sheikh Afzal regarding misappropriation of Rs 6.5 billion of the Punjab Bank presented before the federal agency (National Accountability Bureau) was a part of the proceeding of the Supreme Court for the last one and a half year. Sheikh Afzal in his confessional statement had admitted to making payment of millions of rupees to Babar Awan, Malik Qayyum and many others for bribing the judges, he said, adding that the SC had appointed Additional IG Aftab Sultan as an inquiry officer to probe the allegations and his inquiry report had now become a part of the proceeding of the SC. Moreover, the Punjab government has nothing to do with the committee headed by Justice Jamshed Ali Khan which is disposing of the property of Sheikh Afzals family, he added. Rana Sana said '40 Thieves of Punjab Bank had gathered under the leadership of Ali Baba in the federal government, but Ali Baba and his 40 Thieves would have to cough up billions of rupees of the people. Babar Awan, Malik Qayyum and others should be prepared to face the inquiry report and contest their case on merit before the SC, he said, adding that those who robbed Punjab Bank had made a lot of money, and they should not be afraid of accountability.
