LAHORE - A youth stormed the house of a 20-year-old girl and shot her dead for rejecting his marriage proposal in Shahdara, police sources said on Friday.
Identified as Munawar, the gunman also shot at and wounded the younger sister of the deceased, as she tried to rescue the elder. The killer fled the scene within a few minutes. Police investigators said that Munawar forced his entry into the house of Malik Shaukat in Mayerpura in broad daylight and, after a brief altercation, opened fire on Amna Bibi and her younger sister with a pistol.
Both the sisters sustained multiple bullet wounds and were rushed to hospital, where Amna was pronounced dead. The condition of the injured was stated to be critical. Police have registered a murder case and are investigating the case. “Investigators are conducting raids for the arrest of the killer” replied Muhammad Asif, duty officer at Shahdara police station. The victim’s family told the police that they had rejected the marriage proposal of the unemployed youth who, later, started hurling threats at the victim.
