LHC orders ad to call 60 big guns

Foreign assets case

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court on Friday directed the registrar office to release an advertisement in the national press to summon 60 politicians, including present and former rulers, their families, two former chief justices of the court and a famous businessman, on a petition seeking directions to bring their assets back to the country.
Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan of the LHC, hearing the case, directed the respondent politicians to submit their replies on next date of hearing fixed as June 20.
The court had already issued them several notices, but they did not respond.
In the previous hearing, the court finally directed the registrar office to release a proclamation in the national newspapers, requiring the appearance of respondent politicians either by themselves or through their counsels to submit their replies.
The proclamation prepared by the registrar office states: “If you or your counsel fails to appear before the court on the given date, the case will be heard and decided in your absence and no excuse shall be acceptable in this reagard.”
