LAHORE - Food Minister Punjab Malik Nadeem Kamran has said that unauthorized procurement of wheat, hoarding and its illegal movement is an offence and such stocks of wheat and wheat products would be seized. Persons who inform the department about such stocks would be awarded 10 percent of the total worth of the stock as cash reward, he added. He said that name of informer would be kept secret. He was presiding over a meeting here on Tuesday. While reviewing the ongoing wheat procurement campaign, he said that so far Food Department has procured 12 lakh 74 thousand 497 metric tons wheat whereas one crore 91 lakah 91 thousand 365 bags of "bardana" has been distributed among the farmers. Provincial Minister said that 150372 metric ton wheat has been procured from Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Okara. Likewise, 154180 from Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat, 165187 from Fasialabad, Toba Tek Singh and Jhang, 65275 from Sargodha, Mianwali and Bhakkar, 212658 from Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Khanewal, 225 from Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal, 198435 from D.G. Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajan pur and Layyah and 328165 metric ton wheat has been procured from Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan. Malik Nadeem Kamran, while discussing "bardana" position, told that 1868173 (100 KG) bags has been provided to the farmers of Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Okara. Likewise, 2107335 to Gujranwala, Gujrat and Sialkot, 2575743 to Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh and Jhang, 1055399 to Sargodha, Mianwali and Bhakkar, 3084241 to Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, Sahiwal, Pakpattan and Khanewal, 3343051 to D.G. Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur and Layyah, 2750 to Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal whereas 5154673 bags has been distributed among the farmers belonging to Bahawalpur, Bhawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan districts. DCO unhappy over improper cleanliness DCO Sajjad Ahmed Bhutta on Tuesday expressed displeasure over improper cleanliness at Jinnah Hall and directed the concerned officials to make necessary arrangements for improving the sanitation conditions. He visited offices at Jinnah Hall at around 6 am along with EDO Works Khalid Imran and District Officer Finance Mian Waheed. The DCO checked the attendance of attendance registers of different departments and directed the officials to issue show cause notices to the absent officials and employees. He directed EDO Works to submit proposals for improving the building at the lawn of Jinnah Hall and construction of a monument over there. He directed the officials to make proper sitting arrangements and provide drinking water to the pensioners visiting banks at Jinnah Hall.
