Ruckus in Punjab Assembly: Treasury, opposition exchange corruption bouts

Punjab Assembly witnessed vociferous scenes Wednesday with both the treasury and opposition members hurling accusations and counter accusations against the leadership of PML-N and PPP.
While the PPP members referring to the Asghar Khan case demanded hanging of those who got money from the ISI, the PML-N parliamentarians blamed that the thieves were making noise and raised slogans “Bibi ham sharminda hain- teray katil zinda hain”.
The ruckus started when the PPP’s Deputy Parliamentary leader Shaukat Basra wanted to speak about Asghar Khan case. Speaker Rana Mohammad Iqbal ruled that let the house complete official business and then the member would be allowed to raise his point of order.
The opposition protested over the observations of the speaker and sloganeering started and the house gave the look of a fish market. Shaukat Basra said that real faces of Sharif brothers have been exposed before the masses in the Asghar Khan case. He said the nation will not forgive those who got money from the ISI. He said the PML-N leadership should clarify its position in the House.
They demanded that like Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Rehman Malik, cases of Sharif brothers should also be referred to the Election Commission. He also called for action against General Aslam Beg and Lt General Hameed Gul.
The speech by Shaukat Basra infuriated the PML-N members and they raised slogans against President Asif Ali Zardari.
After failing to pacify the members from both sides, the speaker adjourned the house for half an hour. However, when the session started after the break, there was again accusations bout. Provincial Minister Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan questioned about the killers of Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and who were indulging in corruption and plunder.
He said Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif always served the country and the nation and not a single pie of corruption has been proved against them.
