Govt starts auction of vehicles

LAHORE - Punjab government has started auctioning of vehicles used by former district and tehsil nazims and naib nazims. In this regard, 36 vehicles were sold in open auction on Wednesday, which earned a total amount of Rs 22 million. On the first day of auction held at Football Ground near Gaddafi Stadium, hundreds of people participated while the auction was supervised by Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, head of the auction committee constituted by the Punjab Chief Minister. Secretary Local Government Anwaar Ahmad Khan, Secretary Services Sikandar Sultan, Secretary I&C Raashid Mehmood and Special Secretary Local Government Maqsood Malik were also present on the occasion. A total of 56 vehicles were presented for auction but due to different reasons, auctioning of 20 vehicles was postponed till today while 36 vehicles were auctioned at a cost of Rs two crore 20 lakh and ten thousand. Majority of the successful bidders immediately deposited 25 per cent of the total amount while a number of persons deposited total amount and preferred immediate possession of the vehicles. The auctioning will continue on July 08 and 09 and this process will start at 9.00 am.
