Lahore - Addressing the water issues in Pakistan, Pak Oasis, the local partner of the Danish global water pump leader Grundfos on Friday launched its first showroom in Lahore. The inauguration was attended by chief guests, Ch. Muhammad Sarwar, Governor Punjab and Jesper M. Sorensen, Danish Ambassador to Pakistan.
The outlet aims to promote solar renewable energy solutions in Punjab. The companies have for many years been engaged in developing small to medium sized water supply systems for village and rural areas with focus on operating these sites with solar renewable energy. It utilises the latest technology in Pakistan and the Middle East to turn saline water into clean drinking water.
Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of Denmark, Jesper Moller Sorensen, said: “Pakistan is confronted with a major water challenge as the population will continue to grow. It is vital that Pakistan ensures that the available water supply is distributed efficiently, and is using limited amounts of energy. Grundfos offers highly advance solutions that can help us meet this water challenge.”
Grundfos is a global leader in advanced pump solutions and a trendsetter in water technology and is now expanding its activities in Pakistan.
Speaking about water as a global challenge, Ambassador Sorensen said that “It is incredibly important for the future – for our children’s generation and for their children again – that we think carefully about how we use our energy. Water scarcity is fast becoming one of the world’s greatest challenges. “
Ambassador Sorensen also suggested that Pakistan could look to Denmark’s experience in having growth while reducing water consumption:
“In Denmark, we have experienced a 78 per cent economic growth since the 1970’s, yet energy consumption has remained flat and water usage has actually fallen. Grundfos has been an important part of this story”. Today, Grundfos is a global leader in advanced pump solutions and a trendsetter in water technology, he said.
Ambassador Sorensen concluded that “I am exceedingly proud to see more of Grundfos solutions here in Pakistan. Thanks to its partnership with PakOasis. Not only will this step create jobs in Pakistan, and generate economic growth. It will also help Pakistan use its water resources more efficiently, and thus limiting CO2 emission levels to the benefit of the environment.”
