LAHORE - The PPPs Punjab organisation has opposed distribution of Rs 20,000 relief package (per family) among the flood affectees through Punjab government or the PML-N office-bearers, citing alleged corruption of its ministers and advisors. Addressing a news conference at a local hotel, PPPs Punjab Secretary Finance, Aurangzeb Burki asked the federal govt to undertake this responsibility either itself or authorise the Punjab governor to perform this task. He was accompanied by partys Punjab Additional Secretary, Dr Hasnaat Shah, Lahore President Ch Asghar Gujjar, Deputy Secy Information, Punjab, Iqbal Sialvi and Rao Yasir Iqbal. The PPP leader believed the money sanctioned by the govt for flood affectees wont reach the deserving families, as it would be embezzled by PML-N ministers, advisors and workers. He, however, said all PML-N office-bearers were not corrupt. He said PPP office-bearers would spend the coming Eid with flood victims as per directions of party leadership. Burki asked Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif to obey the orders of Punjab governor, and spend Eid with flood affectees instead at his Raiwind Estate. He said the CM should become a good boy and obey orders of constitutional head of the province. He said PPP govt had successfully completed first phase of rescue and relief operation in the affected areas, and now it was working on the rehabilitation phase. He alleged Punjab govt was seen no where in those areas as far as helping the needy was concerned. Instead of providing relief to the people, Punjab CM and functionaries of his government were busy in photo sessions, he further alleged, adding that all federal government agencies including Pakistan army, navy and air force were seen busy in rescuing the people.
