PTI, PML-Q have same stance on rigging, says Qureshi

LAHORE - Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf senior Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan Muslim League-Q and his party have same stance on the issue of rigging.
Addressing a Press conference alongwith PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervaiz Elahi at their residence on Tuesday, Qureshi said they did not want to derail democracy but they were working to strengthen it. He said free and fair elections were necessary for democracy. He said he had met with Chaudhrys in very positive atmosphere. He said they wanted to give a transparent system to the country.
He further said that Election Commission had not been made independent.
He said that no grand alliance was underway.
He said he had presented his party's point of view and had come to their residence under direction of PTI Chairman Imran Khan with his message. He said that today's exchange of views was very successful, positive and encouraging, there was commonality in thinking with PML leadership and uniformity on many points.
On this occasion, Ch Shujaat Hussain said that those doing propaganda against them for bringing unconstitutional things and derailing the democracy should tell where was democracy.
He said was this democracy that neither FIR had been registered nor anyone arrested on the murder of 15 persons whereas many persons were nabbed on one murder. During the meeting PML leaders Tariq Bashir Cheema, Ch Zaheeruddin and Muhammad Basharat Raja were also present. Shujaat said that there was no democracy in the country. He said had there been democracy in the country, Model Town incident would not have happened.
Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that the FIR of PAT had not been launched so far regarding the Model Town tragedy.
Later on, Ch Shujaat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi met with PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri at his residence and apprised him about their talks with Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
On this occasion Hassan Mohyuddin, son of Dr Tahirul Qadri, and Tariq Bashir Cheema were also present.
Talking to media on the occasion, Ch Shujaat and Pervaiz Elahi said that they were striving to bring political parties on one page and in this regard headway was being made. They said all parties would have to be united and adopt unanimous line of action, otherwise, Model Town tragedy like incidents would continue to occur during the tenure of the incumbent govt which had come into power through rigging.  We want to unite all parties on one point, they added.
Ch Shujaat said that they had held talks with Shah Mehmood Qureshi regarding some points out of 10 points agenda of PML-Q and PAT.
He said they hoped that some other parties would also be joining.
Ch Parvez Elahi said that the government was panicked and its statements were reflective of its being panicky and confused. He said process of consultation with Dr Tahirul Qadri would continue.
