CM sets up Blood Transfusion Authority

LAHORE On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, a Blood Transfusion Authority has been set up in the province. The Authority will ensure the provision of healthy and screened blood to the patients. This was stated by Chairman CMs Taskforce on Spurious Drugs and Chairman Blood Transfusion Authority Dr Saeed Elahi while presiding over the Authoritys first meeting. He said that the Authority would check illegal blood banks and business of substandard and unscreened blood. Monitoring of blood banks would soon begin in the province, he added. He said Shahbaz had announced the establishment of a blood transfusion authority in 1999, but unfortunately the previous govt did not implement the decision. The meeting took important decisions regarding the registration of blood banks, issuance of licenses and provision of quality blood.
