LAHORE (PPI) - Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has said that Sharif brothers want to derail democracy by staging 'long march' and sit-in, but they would fail and at last have to accept court's verdict. He was talking to the journalists after addressing the party workers at Wasavewala in Okara on Sunday. Manzoor Wattoo said Mian brothers, by abstaining from confrontation, should adopt a policy of reconciliation for their own interests. He said the party enjoying a majority would form the next government in Punjab and claimed that PPP was in a position to make the government with the collaboration of Q-League and an announcement was expected soon in this regard. He said the PPP has always honoured courts' decisions and was pursuing reconciliation as a policy. He said the government was fulfilling its responsibilities to resolve political crisis and did not want adopting unconstitutional steps and confrontation. The government, he said, would not allow disturbing law and order and would maintain its writ at every cost. Wattoo said the efforts by Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman and Asfand Yar Wali for reconciliation between the government and Sharif brothers were praiseworthy, adding that the PML-N would not gain any benefit by splashing unhealthy propaganda against the PPP leadership. Instead of confrontation, President Asif Ali Zardari was trying to settle political matters through mutual dialogues, but Sharif brothers were creating hurdles in the way, he added. He said a strong democratic system in the country was need of the hour for which the politicians should play their role and bring the country out of present turmoil. He said 'long march' and sit-in would only create obstacles for progress and prosperity of the country, hence, the democratic minded people should not take part in it. He said the trading community was already frustrated on account of the politics of disturbance and arson and wanted peace for strengthening the socio-economical structure. He claimed that the 160 million people of the country were supporting the present government's policies and they would not tolerate any conspiracy against the integrity and solidarity of the country.
