PTI asks N to quit Punjab

LAHORE – The PML-N should resign from the Parliament and quit the Punjab government if they are sincere in a meaningful campaign to dislodge the corrupt rulers, said PTI Chief Imran Khan. He expressed these views at a press conference on the occasion of PML-Q leader SM Zafar’s son Asim Zafar inclusion in the PTI on Tuesday. Imran said, “I was confident that PML-N would not quit the Parliament and Punjab government, the PML-N leadership prefers sticking to power over principles.” He claimed that both the PPP and PML-N fearing the PTI’s popularity had joined hands in the passage of 20th Amendment to ensure the use of state machinery in their constituencies in the next general elections. Imran maintained that PML-N was not in the position to win the next election but it would steal polls by using the Punjab administration. Coming hard on Federal Interior Minister, the PTI Chief said that Rehman Malik should produce evidence against the corruption of Sharif brothers instead of using it for political bargaining. Responding to a query, he said that it was shameful to see continued support of the coalition partners for a convicted Prime Minister. Meanwhile, a meeting of party’s senior leadership was held at the residence of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, PTI Vice Chairman under the chairmanship of Imran Khan, which discussed the overall political situation of the country. Imran on this occasion said that the convicted Prime Minister should resign to avoid further tarnishing the image of the country and  democracy. He said that status quo political parties would never allow independence of judiciary in the country, while the PTI would build a new Pakistan based on an independent judicial system. The meeting was attended by Javed Hashmi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Arif Alvi, Ahsan Rasheed, Jehangir Khan Tareen, Shafqat Mahmood, Imran Ismail, Nadir Leghari and Azam Swati.
