Cops find leisure time as Shahbaz fights dengue

LAHORE The Punjab police officers are currently 'enjoying their best time as Chief Minister Shahbaz Shairf is busy fighting the dengue menace. Mian Shahbaz Sharif is almost working round-the-clock not only to ensure proper medical treatmentto the dengue-affected patients at public hospitals but also focusing on the preventive measures to eradicate the disease from the society. Consequently, the entire provincial hierarchy is busy in fighting dengue, no matter such 'desperate fight against mosquito is badly affecting even the day-to-day working of every department.The police high-ups instead of focusing on their prime responsibility have joined the dengue-fight unnecessarily just for point scoring at a time when dacoits and robbers are on the rampage across the largest City of the Punjab province, killing people on offering resistance besides brazenly committing bank robberies, house robberies, and other street crimes at gunpoint in every nook and corner of the provincial metropolis. Soon after his appointment as CCPO, Ahmed Raza Tahir brought senior officers of DIG and SSP and SP ranks from other districts to form his own team. But this team of like-minded officers have badly failed to deliver. Reportedly, the gangsters have made over 210 strikes in the City during the last one week. Since April, this year, dacoits looted eight branches of different commercial banks in different parts of the City while the police had failed to make any breakthrough in this regard. Over a dozen people including women have been gunned down by dacoits on offering resistance. Last week, armed bandits stormed into 40 houses located in different parts of the City, held up families and fled after collecting cash, gold ornaments, cellular phones and other valuables. However, a police spokesman on Saturday claimed they had busted 353 criminal gangs involved in heinous crimes and arrested 1143 harden criminals, whereas 2016 cases had been traced.
