LAHORE – Another fleet of 36 railways coaches out of total 202 have arrived in Pakistan in non-assembled condition and they will be fitted in Pakistan Carriage Factory Islamabad.
The coaches would be prepared with the help of Chinese engineers and these had been imported under an agreement of Rs17 billion.
As many as 55 coaches had reached in Pakistan in March and they are part of the railways. Among the 36 coaches, seven are air-conditioned sleeper, 19 are lower air-conditioned business, five are economy class, four dining cars and one is power plant three DG set.
The coaches would be fitted on modern techniques and they are equipped with almost every facility, said the railways spokesman.
It is being believed that coaches would help to improve Railways operational efficiency. The spokesman said that coaches would be included in railways fleet within two to three months.
China was expected to start delivery of railway coaches to PR from September 2011 but process was delayed due to unknown reasons.
Railways delegations had repeatedly visited neighbour country to study production, quality, design, painting, mechanical and operational aspects.
Chinese firm Changchun Railway Company is providing the coaches to Pakistan Railways.
