LAHORE - Atomic scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan has said that the country’s defence is impeccable.
Addressing the launching of Qayyum Nizami’s book “Muamalaat-Rasool (PBUH) at Tech Club, A Q Khan added that he was proud to be the follower of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) whom Allah Almighty had appointed at highest level of morality and goodness.
Jamat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran, senior journalist Mujeebur Rehman Shami, Justice (r) Nasira Javed also addressed on occasion. Engr Abdul Majeed Khan, Zubair Sheikh, Jameel Gishkori, Lieutenant Gen (r) Ziauddin, Engr Mahmudur Rehman Chughtai and good number of people from different walks of life attended the event.
Dr Qadeer criticised General (r) Pervez Musharraf for his non-democratic actions against the country and against his own, saying that now the former president was facing the consequences of his actions.
He mentioned him and Gen (r) Ziauddin and said now they were free citizens but Musharraf was behind the bar. Dr Qadeer appealed for donation for his under-construction hospital in Lahore.
Liaqat Baloch said that country’s constitution was based on Quran and Sunnah which barred all acts against the teachings of Islam in the country. He said Musharraf’s act was against the constitution and the former dictator must be given punishment on it. He said the future of the country was linked to peace.
Liaquat Baloch said his party was fully supporting dialogue with the Taliban and those talking against the dialogues were actually speaking the language of western powers. He prayed for the success of dialogue process, saying the peace was the key of the country’s development.
He said that God forbid failure of dialogue would bring more disaster therefore we as a nation must support it.
Punjab University VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said that it was strange that our Prophet (PBUH) forgave even his worst enemies but we as a society are losing this value. He said that character assassinations on small matters are destroying us as nation. He emphasised on the need for the imposition of education emergency in the country, saying that education was the solution to our all problems.
Shami said that all Pakistanis should ask themselves that whether they were spending their lives according to the teachings of Islam.
He held that majority of people were committing defamations by giving unauthentic statements about others without any verifications. Shami condemned killing of innocent persons including children and women in the name of Islam and Shariat.
Justice (r) Nasira Javed said that Shariat could not be promulgated through force and by blood shedding of innocent children and women. She said that Islam could prevail by winning the hearts of all humans. She said unity among Muslim Ummah, education and harmony were the solutions of our problems.
Qayyum Nizami, in his welcome note, said that Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan was protector of the country’s freedom. He said that Prophet (PBUH) not only gave protection to human life but the Prophet (PBUH) even always protected the lives of animals.
“We can solve our social problems by ensuring implementation on the teachings of our beloved Prophet (PBUH),” added Nizami. He held that a peaceful public revolution was necessary for equality and justice based society in the country.
