CM says 15000 scholarships by PEEF so far

LAHORE Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund has been established first time with Rs 6 billion for the provision of assistance to the talented students facing financial constraints in pursuing their educational activities and out of this fund, scholarships have so far been given to more than 15000 talented students. For the provision of quality educational facilities in backward areas, another Daanish School will soon be inaugurated in Chishtian after Rahimyar Khan and Hasalpur while Daanish schools will also be set up at Attock, Mianwali, DG Khan and Rajanpur this year, he said, while addressing a meeting held in connection with reviewing distribution of scholarships under the PEEF here on Thursday. Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif further said by setting up Daanish Schools for the provision of quality educational facilities to the poorest of the poor students at their doorstep, the government had proved that common man had as much right over resources as the elite. Students after completing their education at these schools will be able to play an active role in the development and uplift of the country, he said, while observing that establishment of the PEEF was a revolutionary step not only leaving a positive impact on education sector, but the dream of poor students of studying at prestigious educational institutions of the country was also being materialised.
