LAHORE – Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hasan has called upon the government to lodge strong protest over US Congress meeting on Balochistan, saying this was an interference in the internal affairs of the country.
Addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora, he said that the foreign office notice of the matter was not enough and the situation called for a strong protest.
Munawar Hasan said that the US Congress meeting had also discussed strengthening the US-India relations and building India a mini super power but the rulers in Islamabad were least bothered about that. He said allowing NATO supplies through airspace was worst form of slavery and betraying the nation. He said the rulers were keeping the nation in the dark but the US envoy had exposed them. He said the Balochs could not be cooled down as long as Pervez Musharraf was not arrested and tried under the law. A mere relief package could not satisfy the Baloch, he added. He said that India was destabilizing Balochistan ad Khyber PK from Afghanistan and distributing arms and money to achieve its nefarious designs. He further said that the government and the opposition were chips of the same bloc and had common interests and objectives as was manifest by the two joining together on the 20th constitutional amendment.
Meanwhile, a three member delegation of the Jamaat-e-Islami, currently in Tehran, called on the Iranian President Ahmadi Nejad and discussed with him matters of bilateral interest including Iran-Pakistan relations and ways to promote Islamic brotherhood.
The delegation comprising Farid Ahmed Piracha, Maulana Abdul Ma’lik and Samiul Haq Serpao, is attending the international conference in Tehran on Islamic awareness.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hasan and Secretary General Liaquat Baloch have condemned baton charge and shelling on the Pasban rally in Karachi taken out for Dr Aafia Siddiqui’s release.
In a statement issued here Friday, they also slated the arrest of Dr Fauzia Siddiqui and several others. They said that Dr Aafia Siddiqui was daughter of the nation who had been given 86 years jail term by a US court and the rally had been taken out to press for her release. He said the police torture on the rally and detention of her sister and many others were most condemnable.
