LAHORE – Months after the federal government’s initiative to augment allowances of its employees, the Punjab Government has also notified increase in senior posting allowance, qualification allowance, orderly allowance and TA/DA with effect from January 1, 2013 TheNation has learnt.
Sources in the Finance Department disclosed that a summary was sent to the Punjab chief minister for approval a couple of days back.
As per the summary all the old allowances were revised and new rates were given for approval of the competent authority that is the chief minister. The existing rates were in effect from July 1, 2005. The federal government had announced the increase in all the allowances in the budget and notified it with effect from July last year. However, the Punjab government though increased the salaries of the employees but could not add to the allowances, the sources intimated. As per the summery the details of revised details are as senior post allowances have been increased for the officers working in BPS-20 and above.
Daily allowances of all the employees from grade-1 to grade-22 have also been revised. Moreover, travelling and mileage allowances of all the employees have been increased up to 100% whereas travelling by air rates to the officers of grade-17 and above will be unchanged. Those employees who travel by personal conveyance like motorcycle, scooter, bicycle, motorcar, taxi or public transport will be admissible for the increment in the allowance.
The higher qualification allowance has also been doubled approximately. As far as revision of the daily allowances (ordinary) is concerned the employees of grade-1 to 4 will be able to get Rs 310 instead of Rs 200, of grade-5 to 11 Rs 390 instead of Rs 310, for grade 12 to grade 16 Rs 700 instead of Rs 500. Likewise, gazetted officers from BPS-17 to BPS-18 will get Rs 1250 instead of Rs 500, BPS 19 to 20 Rs 1550 instead of Rs625, BPS 21 and BPS 22 Rs1750 instead of Rs 700. The increase in special daily allowances has also been made.
