Punjab sends 15 truckloads of relief items to Thar

LAHORE - Punjab government on Monday sent another 15 truckloads of relief goods to the drought affectees of Tharparkar.
The relief contained food hampers and the water bottles which cost Rs 11.125 million to the Punjab kitty. The relief was sent off by city president of PML-N and MNA Muhammad Pervez Malik and MNA Mahar Ishtiaq in presence of officials of the departments concerned.
Each of the 5,200 foods hampers comprise atta bag, sugar, grams, pulses, rice, ghee, dry tea, spices, salt, and a bundle of match boxes. As many as 16,500 water bottles, 1.5litre each, also form part of the relief package.
Pervez Malik on the occasion expressed resolve on behalf of the Punjab government to play role of an elder brother whenever any province faced catastrophe or natural calamity. He also announced to send another 30 truckload of relief goods in next three days. It may be mentioned that relief items to Tharparkar are being sent on the special instructions of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
