LAHORE – As part of protest campaign, Punjab Paramedics Alliance held a demonstration at Jail Road on Saturday to press for the demands of service structure, health risk allowance and regularization of contract employees.
Dozens of paramedics, led by Chairman PPA Malik Munir, gathered outside Services Hospital to protest against lack of interest on the part of bureaucracy to implement the Chief Minister’s orders. Carrying placards and banners inscribed with writings in favour of their demands and against the government, paramedics chanted slogans against the bureaucracy.
Malik Munir said that the CM had ordered secretary health over five months back to resolve problems of paramedics within three weeks. He alleged that the bureaucracy was using delaying tactics and violating CM directions. He said that the paramedics have no other option except to launch protest for fulfillment of their legitimate demands.
SEMINAR: The Endocrine and Diabetic Clinic Shaikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute will organize patient related activities and continuous medical education seminar on Wednesday (November 14) to mark World Diabetes Day.
Purpose of the event is to refresh the knowledge of postgraduate trainees, family physicians and paramedics about diabetes mellitus. The WDD is celebrated on November 14 every year, birthday of Fredrick Banting, the founder of insulin. Patient related activities will include free blood sugar checking, HbA1c, fundoscopy, BMI, free diet counseling and prescriptions.
Chairman and Dean SZH Prof Zafar Iqbal will supervise all the activities.
DIRECTIVES:  The Committee constituted for resuming MBBS classes at Ameeruddin Medical College has presented its recommendations and Health Department has directed concerned quarters for their implementation.
According to the recommendations, building of Services Institute of Medical Sciences at Birdwood Road will be handed over to administration of Ameeruddin Medical College. Moreover, under construction building of Bacteria laboratory would also be considered part of Ameeruddin Medical College, after its completion.
The Committee has recommended that on 3-Birdwood Road, a suitable building should be acquired on rent for the students residing in different rooms and minimum amount should be spent on its repair. The Committee further suggested that a suitable site should be provided to PGMI and Ameeruddin Medical College should be shifted near Lahore General Hospital. Health Department has issued necessary instructions to all stakeholders to implement these recommendations as early as possible.
Moot: Minhajul Quran Chief Dr Muhammad Tahirul Qadri has said that Iqbal’s Pakistan was under serious threats both ideologically as well as territorially.
Addressing a seminar organized by Minhajul Quran Youth League to mark Allama Iqbal’s birth anniversary, he said that the country was drifting from the message of Iqbal. Dr Qadri said that political mafias held hostage the future of this country.
He said for the last six decades, their hold on the national resources and decision-making processes had been getting stronger with the passage of time. He said that the system erected in the name of ‘democracy’ by the vested interests was ironically bereft of what this system actually stood for. He asked youth and students to become true eagles of Iqbal by dedicating themselves to nation building. He said that this was possible if they put their energies to productive use and acquired modern education.
