Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani termed the agreement reached on the 7th NFC award a milestone achievement in the history of the country.All the federating units unanimously agreed on one formula and nobody registered a note of dissent on it, he said during a meeting with the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who called on the Prime Minister here Saturday morning.The prime minister lauded the role of Shahbaz Sharif in the achievement of consensus on the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) Award. Consensus on NFC Award is a fruit of democratic process and reflects the maturity of political leadershipshowing they are capable of resolving issues of national importance, the Premier said. The Prime Minister said that consensus on NFC Award would contribute to materialise of the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah,adding that strong, prosperous and stable provinces would strengthen the federation. The Prime Minister said that for the first time in the history of NFC Award, Balochistan has been given due consideration. Gesture shown by the provinces is an act to strengthen the federation, he added. The prime minister appreciated all members of NFC Award for their hardwork and commitment to make NFC Award a success. He expressed the hope that new distribution of resources between the centre and provinces would go a long way for the prosperity of the provinces and will help in ushering in a new era of economic welfare of the people. Punjab Chief Minister thanked the prime minister for his commitment and support during the process of NFC Award and said that unanimity shown by the political leadership was an excellent gesture. Political leadership together would steer the country out of the current situation and resolve challenges, he hoped, and addedNew NFC Award is fresh air for the well-being of the people. Prime minister Gilani and Punjab Chief Minister also discussed current law and order situation in the province. The CM assured the Premier that Punjab government was fully active to thwart any untoward incident in the province.
