LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that government is attaching top priority to the provision of basic amenities to masses through implementation of various mega projects and development schemes and allocation of record development funds of Rs 193 billion for this purpose under Annual Development Programme is a proof of this fact. He directed that speedy completion of ongoing development schemes and mega projects in Murree, which is an important tourist resort of the country, should be ensured and no compromise should be made on the standard of construction. He also issued instructions for beautification and renovation projects, construction of roads, parks, a modern hospital and parking plaza at Jhika Gali expeditiously so that maximum facilities could be made available to the visitors during the tourist season. He was addressing a meeting after inspection of under-construction parking plaza at Jhika Gali and Jhika Gali to Bhurban Road on Sunday, said spokesman of the Punjab government. The chief minister said that a high standard of construction work of the parking plaza in Murree should be ensured at any cost. He also inspected the under-construction parking plaza and directed the authorities concerned to ensure early completion of the project. Commissioner Rawa-lpindi Division Zahid Saeed, Secretary Tourism Amir Ashraf Khawaja and FWO authorities informed the chief minister that repair and reconstruction work of all roads under the control of Tehsil Municipal Administration Murree has been completed while improvement and beautification work of PIA Park, Bagh Saheedan and repair and carpeting of main Murree Road is in progress. Ailing minors to be treated free Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has issued instructions for provision of financial assistance and treatment to five children of a family of Mianwali suffering from muscular dystrophy, at government expenses. According to details, three children of a former police constable Abdul Razaq of Mianwali, Sohail, Shoaib and Junaid aged 12, 10 and 8 respectively are suffering from muscular dystrophy which attacks and paralyse children at the age of eight. The remaining two children of Abdul Razaq, Saima aged six and Javed aged four are normal but the doctors have indicated that they might also catch the disease. The chief minister has directed Secretary Health Fawad Hasan Fawad to make arrangements for the treatment of the children. After meeting with the disabled children on the instructions of the chief minister, DCO Mianwali, Tariq Mehmood said doctors had examined the children and advised to shift them to Benazir Hospital Rawalpindi.
