LAHORE – The City remained in the grip of sultry weather on Wednesday with experts predicting the prevailing conditions to persist during the next 24 hours.
Abundance of sunshine, high humidity, and lack of winds and rains made the weather oppressive, causing the Lahorites to sweat profusely throughout the day.
Lahore Canal, as usual, attracted a large number of people, including women and children. Not only youth but also elderly people were seen bathing in the Canal. At certain places, even women were seen beating the heat by taking a dip in the mud-coloured Canal water.
On Wednesday, the maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded at 38 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 53 per cent. According to the experts, a seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan; and monsoon currents are penetrating into lower and upper parts of the country.
The local meteorological department has forecast mainly hot and humid weather with chances of isolated showers for the City during the next 24 hours. The met office has forecast scattered thundershower / rain for Sindh; Zhob, Quetta, Sibbi, Kalat, Makran, Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions; and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Rains are expected at isolated places in many parts of the country.
