LAHORE - Religious parties observed Friday as Palestine Solidarity Day to express the nation’s concern over the killings of innocent citizens by Israeli bombings in Gaza.
On the appeal of Milli Yakjehti Council, Ulema and Khatibs in their Friday sermons condemned the Israeli bombings besides the indifference of the Muslim rulers over the brutal attacks in Gaza in which hundreds of Palestinian men, women and children have been killed so far. They underlined the need for unity to enable the Muslim world face the enemy’s designs.
Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Liaqat Baloch said that the US, United Nations and Muslim rulers are responsible for the delay in the solution to Palestine issue.
In his address at Jamia Masjid Rahimya in Gulberg, the JI central leader said the Zionist state, a US baby, was shedding blood of the Palestinians. He said the Muslims were being victimised in Kashmir, Burma, Iraq, Syria and in some African states but the world community remained unmoved. He said the people of Pakistan stood by their Palestinian brothers in their hour of trial.
Later, talking to media, Baloch criticised the PML-N government saying the rulers instead of resolving issues have added to them. He lamented the Nawaz-led government like its predecessors was also following the policies of Pervez Musharraf. He said the energy crisis had further deepened during the last one year.
Baloch said PTI chairman Imran Khan had lawful right to stage long march. However, he said the situation called for unity of the political parties.
Similarly, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen out a rally in front of Jamia Masjid Samanabad to condemn the Israeli attacks in Gaza and ISIS attack in Iraq. The rally was led by Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi and Allama Imtiaz Kazmi.
Addressing the participants, Allama Rizvi held the US responsible for all the problems being faced by Muslims. He said the US through Israel was dong genocide Palestinian people.
