Plea to disqualify Sharifs, Saad rejected

LAHORE  - Sustaining an objection, the Lahore High Court on Tuesday declared non-maintainable a petition seeking disqualification of Sharif brothers and MNA Khawaja Saad Rafiq
The court passed the order on a petition moved by Advocate Shahid Orakzai seeking disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq for their alleged role in an attack on SC.
The petitioner had submitted that the respondents had been convicted in the SC attack case but had not mentioned it in their nomination papers.
He said the respondents were not eligible to contest the elections.
The court heard the case as objection matter and declared the petition as non-maintainable after sustaining the objection raised by Registrar Office.
