Boy drowns in Raiwind pond

LAHORE: A seven-year-old boy drowned in a 9-ft deep pond in Raiwind on Tuesday, sources said.
The boy, identified as Ahad, son of Zulfiqar, was playing outside his house when he fell into the pond. A passerby made hue and cry as he watched the lad falling.
A good number of people gathered on the spot and retrieved the body after hectic efforts.
Police, as usual, reached late.
The residents staged a demonstration against authorities for their sheer negligence. “The incident took place because of negligence on the part of district administration,” the protesters regretted.–Our Staff Reporter
