Strict action against IJT hooligans sought


LAHORE - An emergency meeting of Punjab University Academic Staff Association was held at Executive Club here on Friday which condemned the hooliganism of Islami Jamiat Tulba and expressed solidarity with teachers.
The Academic Staff Association has demanded to revitalise Punjab University Disciplinary Committee completely and strict action against IJT hooligans demanded. The association also demanded that all the previous cases which have been discussed be implemented. The ASA asked that all the boys residing illegally in hostels be expelled especially evening students residing in hostels. It said in a statement that it has come to the notice of ASA that many students have been admitted to evening classes in violation of merit.
The ASA demanded that an independent and impartial inquiry officer be deputed to investigate the matter so the university could be purged of the students who have managed their admissions illegally. The ASA also demanded that Khalid Bin Waleed Hostel be converted into girls’ hostel as it was a long-standing demand of female students and girls’ hostel be constructed at Old Campus.
12 apartments for PU teachers: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran on Friday laid foundation stone of 12 apartments for teachers in order to provide more residential facilities. Each apartment will consist of 1,550 sqft with two master beds and the project will be completed by January this year. Punjab University teachers have expressed pleasure over the project and said that PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran had taken revolutionary steps for the welfare of teachers, students and employees.
PU students shine: Punjab University team comprising Hamza Tarar of Institute of Business Administration and Misha Batool of Institute of Communication Studies bagged Team Trophy in 6th All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest, 2012 which was organised by College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (NUST), Rawalpindi.
PU team has maintained its victory record by winning the trophy consecutively for the years 2012, 2010, 2009 and 2008 while the competition was not organised in 2011. In this contest 33 teams from all over Pakistan including GC University Lahore, GC University Faisalabad, UET Taxila, Agricultural University Faisalabad, International University Islamabad, University of Gujrat, University of Sargodha, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Institute of Medical Sciences Quetta, University of Peshawar, Mirpur University, Military College of Engineering Risalpur, Bahaudin Zakryia University Multan and NUST Islamabad were participated.
PU admissions and exams schedule : Punjab University Examinations Department has issued the schedule of admissions fee and forms for Diploma in Physical Education (Under Graduate) Annual Exam, 2012 will commence with effect from June 4.
The dates of submission of admission forms and fee Diploma in Physical Education (Under Graduate) Annual Exam, 2012 is May 17 with single fee and May 21 with double fee. While the dates of B Com examinations are revised as B Com, Part-I, Annual Exam 2012 will commence from June 15 and B Com Part-II Annual Exam 2012 will commence from June 18. The MA/MSc Part-II Annual Examination 2012 will commence form June 15.
PU results: PU Examinations Department has declared the results of MSc Home Economics Part-II, Annual Exam 2011.
