LAHORE
Nazaria Pakistan Trust (NPT) Chairman Dr Majid Nizami has reiterated the resolve to continue with struggle to make Pakistan a modern Islamic welfare state.
“The NPT has been educating the youth about the cause for which Pakistan came into being,” Nizami said on Wednesday while addressing a special sitting held to mark the death anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The sitting was jointly organised by the NPT and Tehreek-i-Pakistan Workers Trust.
The NPT chairman said, “We miserably failed to show proper respect and veneration towards our national heroes by ignoring their vision and message. Consequently, we have been punished by being deprived of our eastern wing and Kashmir, both of which are bound to become part of Pakistan once again.”
Dr Nizami also read out excerpts from one of the last speeches of Quaid-i-Azam.
Addressing the sitting, Prof Dr Rafique Ahmad observed that the Quaid-i-Azam did a great favour to the Muslims of South Asia. His funeral procession was the largest after that of Aurangzeb Alamgir. He was always thinking of ways and means to enhance the welfare, dignity and prosperity of the Muslims. It was through his endeavours that the first budget of Pakistan was a surplus budget, which caused much shame to the doomsters who were predicting a gloomy future for Pakistan.
Col (r) Salim Malik, Col (r) Ikramullah Khan, Maj Gen (r) Rahat Latif, Choudhary, Naeem Hussain Chatta, Pir Ejaz Hashmi, Dr Parveen Khan, Maulana Muhammad Shafi Josh, Begum Safia Ishaq also spoke on the occaion.
They paid a glowing tribute to the outstanding services rendered by Dr Nizami, through the publications brought out by the Nawa-i-Waqt Group and the activities of the NPT.
