Pervez Malik criticizes decision of gas supply suspension to Punjab Industry

Renowned industrialists, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) & Senior Leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Mohammad Pervez Malik while strongly criticizing the decision of gas supply suspension to the Punjab industry indefinite period and said that PPP government was playing dirty game with the Punjab. The discrimination in gas supply would exterminate the Punjab industrial sector. According to press release issued here on Monday, Mohammad Peraiz Malik said that PPP government was utilizing its all energies to punish the people of Punjab and taking measures to destabilize the Punjab economy. He said that Punjab trade and industry condition was already flimsy due to foe-behavior of the PPP regime and now fully suspension of gas supply to the Punjab industry would be the last nail in the coffin. He said that thousands industrial units were closed due to discrimination with Punjab and suspension of gas supply to the Punjab industry. Million industrial workers have lost their jobs, their families were compelled for starvation but PPP government, who was chanting the slogan of food, cloth & residence in the elections, busy to peruse its own interest and leading country towards obliteration. He said that a couple of days ago, Punjab industrialists staged a historical protest in the front of Punjab Governor's House but despite taking measures to improve the situation, SNGPL has suspended the gas supply to the Punjab industry for unmentioned period following the directions of people sitting in the helm of affairs. He said that the destruction would not limited to the Punjab level but national economy would also feel the heat as the most of export-oriented industries were situated at Punjab and most revenues were also being paid by the Punjab businessmen. Now Punjab industry is being closed and businessmen are on the edge of default. PML-N leader said that textile sector was the largest export-oriented sector of the country with more than 60% share in the total exports. Despite its importance, he said, SNGPL authorities have suspended the gas supply for this largest sector as well. He said that the textile sector was already facing heavy losses due to one day gas load shedding and now fully gas load shedding would end the production, exporters would not be able to meet their export orders, foreign buyers would be transferred to other countries, financial crisis would be deepen, they would not be able to pay salaries of workers and utility bills, textile processing and knitting units will be closed down their operations and graph of unemployment would touch the sky. He said that the country was enriched with the vast natural gas reserves but not being utilize substantially due to weakens policies of the government, inability of the concerned departments and gas theft. He said that the gas is the main component of the textile industry but every year gas supply suspended with the start of winter season. He said that due to mother steeply behavior of the government, many textile units had been closed down their operations or transferred to other countries and thousands industrial workers lost their jobs. He said that if the SNGPL not take back the decision of three day gas load shedding immediately, situation would further worsening. He said that new investment is very important for the economy of any country in the world but in these circumstances when a local investor was not ready to invest a single rupee, how foreign investor could be convinced? Mohammad Pervez Malik said that Punjab industrialists were lamenting and protesting against the discrimination with Punjab and infinite gas suspension but PPP government seems slipshod. He said that PML-N fully supports the business community and would not play the role of silent spectator on the issue of gas suspension to the Punjab industry. He also warned the government to immediately restore gas to the Punjab industry and end the discrimination with Punjab otherwise PML-N would react strongly.
