LAHORE Deputy Speaker Rana Mashhood Ahmed constituted another committee to evaluate the issue and submit recommendations for stopping illegal construction of multi storey building in the City. During Question on Local Government and Community Development Department at the Punjab Assembly floor on Wednesday, opposition legislator Ayesha Javed pointed out presence of 36 illegal plazas in Gulberg Town. Parliamentary Secretary for LG & CD Abdul Razzaq Dhiloon said that majority of the Gulberg Roads falls under the jurisdiction of Lahore Development Authority. He said that there were only two illegal plazas in the jurisdiction of Gluberg Town and both had been demolished. In another supplementary question, Ayesha Javed pointed out working of illegal parking stands on 32 roads of the City District Government Lahore. She said that majority of the stands were involved in overcharging. Treasury member Mian Naseer supported the arguments of Ayesha Javed, saying that besides the illegal parking stands the practice of over charging has become a normal routine. Taking notice of the issue, the Deputy Speaker asked all the MPAs from Lahore to submit recommendations and suggestions to deal with such issues. He expressed hope that the government would take action against those involved in establishment of illegal parking stands or overcharging. Responding to a question about the financial embezzlement of Rs 80 million rupees at Pakpattan district, the parliamentary secretary informed the House that the Director General Anti Corruption was personally probing the matter. The parliamentary secretary failed to satisfy the House regarding fumigation and insecticide spray arrangements in the City. Waseem Qadir expressed dissatisfaction over the arrangements that caused outbreak of dengue fever in the City. He said that the issue was pointed out some two years back but no attention was given that caused outbreak of dengue.
