Display of solidarity with the displaced

LAHORE - A consignment of 11 truckloads of relief goods for internally displaced persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan was dispatched to Bannu from Army Relief Camp Fortress Stadium.
An amount of Rs 24 million has also been so far collected as donations in cash, said a release, issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.
Brigadier Mazhar Kayani, Commander Logistics, Lahore Corps informed the media that almost 250 tons of relief goods including dry rations, items of daily use and medicines have been collected within three weeks of establishment of Army Relief Camps at Lahore.
He said that a consignment of 80 tons have been dispatched on Saturday, while 160 tons of relief goods had already been dispatched during the last week. He said that philanthropists, NGOs and civil welfare organisations were making generous contribution in cash for this noble cause.
He lauded the overall national spirit in supporting the displaced brethren. Miss Rabia Zia, Coordinator Social Sector Governor Punjab was also present and donated 2000 litter of mineral water for people of North Waziristan. Brigadier Mazhar Kayani eulogised the traditional solidarity and dedication of the people of Lahore.
