LHC full bench to hear Rehmans remission case

LAHORE - Lahore High Court (LHC) has constituted a full bench to hear the petition against remission of conviction in respect of Interior Minister Rehman Malik by President Asif Ali Zardari. The full bench will be headed by Justice Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry and it would take up the case for regular hearing on June 16 next. Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi, media advisor of 'Adlia Bachao Committee has challenged the remission granted to Rehman Malik taking the plea that remission was given in haste by the president without applying judicious mind and meeting legal formalities. He has prayed to the court for declaring the remission invalid granted by the president to Rahman Malik against the jail sentence earlier awarded to him by the accountability court in corruption reference after he failed to appear despite repeated calls. The sentence had revived after the LHC has dismissed Maliks appeals against the conviction last month.
