LAHORE A 26-year-old youth drowned in River Ravi in Shahdara police precincts on Sunday night shortly after a few friends jumped into the river in order to soothe scorching heat. Police investigators believed the youth later identified as Muhammad Ashfaq, a resident of Farrukhabad, little knew about swimming. He along with his some friends of the aforesaid area went there to enjoy some kind of picnic and later they decided to have fun by jumping into the stream, they added. According to the accounts of Ashfaqs friends, he perhaps went away in deep water and resultantly drowned. Police and Rescue teams reached the spot within no time but despite their hectic efforts the body of the deceased could not be retrieved. A Rescuer told that they would continue to search the body on Monday (today).
