Four killed in Lahore ‘shootout’

LAHORE: Four alleged criminals were gunned down in a ‘shootout’ with the CIA policemen in Badami Bagh on Monday night, police said.  Sources in the CIA police claimed that the bandits were in police custody and the cops staged the shootout to close the chapter of the hardened criminals.  An official requesting anonymity said that the bandits were handcuffed when they were shot dead one by one by the police in a deserted locality.  According to police version, a team of the Crimes Investigation Agency along with four accused was on their way to raid a hideout when some accomplices of the bandits opened fire on police vehicles in an attempt to help free the arrested culprits. The police also retaliated. As a result, four notorious gangsters died during the crossfire. One of the bandits was identified as Imran Jhangvi, a most wanted criminal arrested by CIA police a couple of weeks ago. Police have moved the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and are investigating.
