Road accidents kill three


LAHORE – Three people were killed in as many incidents in different parts of the City, police and rescue workers said on Monday.
A motorcyclist, later identified as Abdul Ghaffar, was on his way home when a rashly driven vehicle bumped into his two-wheeler in Islampura police area. The motorcyclists died on the spot while the driver along with the vehicle fled away. The police are investigating.
In another incident, Iftikhar Ahmed who was admitted to a local hospital with severe injuries the other day died there on Monday. Police said that the man was wounded when a recklessly driven car ran over him in Shadman area.
Meanwhile, a teenage girl died after she fell down from the rooftop of her house situated in Shahdara area. Asifa Bibi was washing the clothes at the rooftop when she slipped suddenly and sustained serious head injuries.
Separately, gunmen shot and wounded a local trader and his two young employees in Data Darbar area as he refused to pay extortion to the gangsters under duress, police said on Monday night.
Four gunmen appeared outside the auto spare-parts shop of Rehman located near Sardar Chappal Chowk and opened indiscriminate fire.
