Leg-pulling thriving in PU: VC

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Leg-pulling is not only prevailing in the Punjab University, but is also thriving, said Vice-Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran on Monday. Many [PU] teachers have been performing administrative duties. There are some definite rules to run an institute. Some institutions took too much time to respond to a letter whereas others responded quickly. [Some] people have been struggling hard to stop others cases by resorting to leg-pulling, Dr Kamran told an informative seminar on the topic Organizational Intelligence. Held at the Al-Raaz Hall of the Universitys Centre for Undergraduate Studies, the seminar was also attended by Registrar Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, heads of various teaching departments and administrative officials. Giving detailed information on the topic, Aqeela Rahman said it was always the major responsibility of a high-level administration to run the affairs in a disciplined manner. They have to focus whether mental and physical energies are being utilized fully to achieve the mission of that organization. She said those on the top level should communicate with each other, give lower cadres the authority to think, make organizational structures systematic and understandable, and rules and procedures should be clear. Director Planning & Development Tariq Majeed Qureshi also addressed the seminar. 35 laptops for professors: Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran distributed 35 laptops among the senior professors, associate professors and assistant professors at a ceremony in his office on Monday. On the occasion, the VC said: Educational standard of a university depended on its faculty and on how skillfully they carry out research. He said high educational level of teachers would automatically raise the educational standard of students. He said the provision of laptop would enhance research productivity of teachers. The Vice-Chancellor said he himself had been able to write a book every year during his period of vice-chancellorship.
