OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A 40-year-old man was hanged to death by unidentified persons in Burki Police precincts on Friday. The victim, identified as Rafaqat Ali, resident of Mandy Wala Village, had left his house on Thursday night for his personal piece of work but did not return. His family started looking for him and at last his body was found on Friday morning from nearby farms. Police investigators associated with the case say some unidentified persons had hanged the victim and threw his body in farms and ran away from the crime scene. Police after being informed reached the spot and removed the body to the City morgue for autopsy. A case has been lodged against unidentified accused persons on the complaint of victims brother Muhammad Yaqub under section 302/34 of PPC. Police said that the motive behind the killing would be revealed in further investigations. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding car in Lorry Adda Police limits on Friday. Police concerned said that the deceased, yet to be identified, was on his way when a rashly driven car ran over him. Resultantly he sustained severe injuries. However, the car driver managed to escape from the crime scene. Some passerby rushed the victim to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead. Later, police shifted the body to city morgue and registered a case on the complaint of ASI Muhammad Ramzan. No arrest was made till the filing of this report. The dead body was handed over to the victims family after legal formalities. FIRE ERUPTED: Fire erupted at four separate places in the City and reduced valuables worth million of rupees to ashes on Friday. According to Rescue 1122 Fire Service, fire broke out in a board factory near Shadara due to short circuit and reduced board worth Rs 50 millions to ashes. Fire fighters rushed the spot and extinguished the fire after hectic efforts continued for over two hours. Four persons also sustained minor burn injuries and first aid was provided to them on the spot. Meanwhile, fire broke out in a shop due to short circuit in China Scheme near Gujjarpura Police Station and reduced valuables worth hundred of rupees to ashes. Fire fighters rushed the spot and put out the fire out after hectic efforts. In another incident, fire erupted at a house of Saghir Hussain due to short circuit and reduced valuables worth Rs 1 lakh to ashes. Rescue 1122 Fire Service reached the spot in time and extinguished the fire. Yet in another fire case, fire erupted in wheat crop of Azam Ali in Gawala Colony, Chungi Amer Sadhu. Fire fighters reached the spot and controlled the fire. The owner of the crop has claimed loss of thousands of rupees. Meanwhile, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hasan, former chief Qazi Husain Ahmed and Secretary General Liaquat Baloch have condemned the bomb blasts at Charsada, causing huge loss of life. In a joint statement issued here on Friday, they said that killing of innocent citizens was a gruesome act. The US had declared war against Pakistan in the shape of direct attacks and terrorist activities but the rulers were completely indifferent and their sole concern was to mint money and save their government, they said.
