LAHORE - The Pakistan Hockey Federation has decided to appoint former Olympian Ayaz Mahmood as chief coach of the senior team. It has been learnt that Khawaja Junaid, Mohammad Shahbaz Junior and Kamran Ashraf would be among the panel of coaching being assigned with Mahmood by the PHF. However, formal announcement of the senior team management would be made in a couple of days. The previous team management headed by Khawaja Zakauddin resigned after the Beijing Olympics. The PHF approached several former Olympians including Shahbaz Ahmed senior but he cited personal problems in taking up the job as chief coach of the team. The delay in the senior team management was due to the silent season of the senior team while the junior team and women team management has already been announced by the federation. It has also been learnt that the Indian senior team would visit Pakistan by the start of the next year and that would be possible with the intervention of the government
