LAHORE - Panic gripped the area when a gas cylinder exploded in a canteen located near Shaheen plaza at Abbot Road in Qilla Gujar Singh police area on Wednesday, which left two injured. Police personnel maintained that the people of the area considered it a suicide attack and left their homes opened seconds after the explosion. The police told that two workers of the same canteen namely Javed, 30 and Adnan, 35, suffered minor injuries due to the cylinder blast. The canteen was also badly damaged. Bomb Disposal Squad personnel, Rescue 1122 officers, Fire-fighters, Edhi ambulances and a good number of policemen reached the spot and started rescue operation. The police cordoned off the area and blocked all the entry points near the affected building as a result of which traffic remained suspended for an hour. However, traffic flow was restored after shifting the injured to the Mayo Hospital where their condition was told stable till filing of this report.
