LAHORE - Reviewing law and order situation in Punjab, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said a high security prison will be constructed in the province which will be equipped with latest technology.
Presiding over a meeting here on Monday which reviewed law and order in the province, the chief minister directed that all out measures be taken for the protection of life and property of citizens and no effort be spared in this regard.
Provincial Ministers Rana Sanaullah Khan, Col (r) Shuja Khanzada, chief secretary, inspector general police, secretary home and concerned officers were present. Secretary Home gave a detailed briefing to the meeting on law and order in Punjab.
Shahbaz directed for improving the intelligence sharing system. He directed Home Department to identify the land for construction of prison.
The chief minister said that staff recruited in anti-terrorism department will be imparted modern training. He said work was in progress round the clock on the construction of an integrated command and control and communication centre in Lahore. He said the project costing an amount of Rs 5.5 billion will help control crimes.
Shahabz said survey had been completed for installing 1,800 latest CCTV cameras in the provincial metropolis. The meeting also decided to set up a separate company on the pattern of Solar Power Park Company for the speedy implementation of the project.
