Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said crackdown against sugar hoarders will continue. Addressing a meeting held to review the anti sugar hoarders drive, Shahbaz has asked the dealers to disclose their stocks and put them on sale in the market at fixed price. He said big hoarders will be targeted specially during the drive. Chief minister has directed the commissioners and DCOs to get stock details from sugar traders and ordered to prepare one-kilogram sugar bag along with 2.5 kg bag to be sold in Ramzan bazaars. The crackdown against sugar hoarders continued in Punjab on the directives of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and so far hundreds of thousands of sugar bags have been recovered. In Hafizabad, district administration recovered more than 2,000 bags whereas 30,000 in Sargodha and 5,530 sugar bags have been seized in Bhakkar. During crackdown, 1500 sugar bags confiscated in Khushab, 845 bags in Pindi Bhattian, 12,500 in Pakpattan, 15,000 in Chichawatanni, 600,000 in Bahawalnagar, 800,000 in Toba Tak Singh and more than 15,000 from Gulshan-e-Ravi in Lahore. At least 10,000 sugar bags hoarded illegally have been recovered during overnight raids of police and administration in Rawalpindi. District Adminstration Rawalpindi along with police raided private stores and godowns in Gunj Mandi, Nankari Bazar, Raja Bazar, Saddar, Cantt and others parts of the city and recovered thousands of sugar bags. According to Rawalpindi administration, the action against hoarders will continue on the directives of government of Punjab.
