LAHORE The Punjab government and various Turk companies have decided to cooperate in transport and traffic management sectors and agreement will soon be finalized in this regard. It was decided in the meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and representatives of various companies from Istanbul at CMs Secretariat here on Friday. Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, Secretaries of Transport, Finance and Planning and Development departments were also present on the occasion. The CM said people of Pakistan and Turkey were bound together in strong bonds of love and friendship and sentiments of affection of Turk people with Pakistan could not be described in words. He said he would always remember the warmth welcome and hospitality extended to him during his recent visit to Turkey. He also said visit of the representatives of various companies of Istanbul associated with transport and traffic management sectors to Lahore was a link in this regard. He said he wanted to provide better transport facilities to the people of Punjab as early as possible. There is an excellent public transport and traffic management system in Istanbul and I want to introduce a similar system in Punjab for which he needs cooperation of Turk brethren. I desire to implement an agreement in public transport and traffic management on the pattern of the agreement signed between Istanbul and Solid Waste Management Department, he said, adding that he would soon send a team to Istanbul to finalise details of this agreement. The representatives of the leading companies of Istanbul, Isbak Company, Belbim Company and Istanbul Ulasim Company while speaking on the occasion, said they had deep interest in Bus Rapid Transport and Traffic Management projects and would extend all out cooperation to the Punjab government.
