Protector seeks justice

LAHORE Notwithstanding the rhetoric by the big guns of police department of providing justice to the victimised masses and prompt registration of cases, SHO Muridkey Saddar has allegedly refused to register an FIR of a Sub-Inspector deployed at the office of Capital City Police Officer Lahore, TheNation has learnt on Friday. Reliable sources claimed the victim SI Mohammad Ramzan, in-charge of Naqsha Branch in CCPO Office, was heading towards his home located in Mubarakabad area of Muridkey, on January 12 at about 11:15 pm when he observed a car chasing him. He stayed for a while at a local petrol pump at Narowal Chowk due to their fear resultantly the car passed him by, sources further said. But when he reached near his home, some unidentified persons emerged from the car parked near the hidden corner of his home and held up him on gunpoint, they said. On their demand, the SI Ramzan handed them over a mobile phone worth Rs 7,000, cash Rs 6,000 and other official documents. The entire episode took a few minutes. Interestingly, when the Sub-Inspector approached Muridkey Saddar police station house office (SHO) Younas Dogar on the same night at about 11:30 pm and urged him of registering a dacoity case against unidentified dacoits the SHO allegedly refused to do so and asked him to go home besides promising him the FIR would be registered against the accused on suitable time. Reportedly, the SHO also warned him to remain mum as the action would be initiated within a few days. Talking on the issue, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Liaqat Ali Goraya said he was completely unaware about the incident but he would definitely initiate disciplinary action against the responsible police officer. However, when talked the SHO Younas Dogar declined to comment on the issue and further said this was not his cell number on which when contacted an ASI Fiaz Ahmed deployed at Director Public Relation Branch of Central Police Office (CPO) gave the same cell number. It is pertinent to mention here that due to such complaints former Inspector General of Police Punjab Tariq Saleem Dogar had directed the police officers to register FIRs seconds after the incidents.
