CJ takes notice over woman’s abduction



LAHORE –Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial has taken notice over the abduction of a woman in Sialkot. The chief justice has directed the Sialkot district and sessions judge to send a comprehensive report of steps taken by the police along with his own comments in the matter within a week. Adjourned: The Lahore High Court adjourned hearing on a petition challenging appointments in the Punjab Assembly (PA) by Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal. Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial directed the counsels of petitioners and government to come up today (March 15) for arguments on the matter. Some PA employees moved the petition by submitting the speaker was appointing voters of his constituency at the vacant seats in the assembly after violating the merit and concerned rules. They pointed out the speaker had also amended assembly rules in order to achieve his ‘target’.
They submitted the possible appointments had created unrest among the assembly staff and candidates eligible for the promotion for the said posts. They requested the court to restrain the PA speaker from making such appointments.
