LHC moved against formation of new provinces

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday accepted an application, seeking to prevent government from making new provinces in the country, for hearing and sought a reply from Attorney General of Pakistan and advocate general Punjab. Lawyer Malik Naeem Advocate in his application stated that the Constitution did not allow formation of new provinces. He noted that new legislation should be made for the purpose. He said that establishment of new provinces would weaken Pakistan. However, the court, accepting the application for hearing, issued notices to the attorney general and advocate general Punjab for the second week of next month.
