LAHORE - "Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)' President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat has approved handsome money for the participating clubs in coming Second National Women Club Championship from 23-30 June 2009. Under his directive, PFF has distributed nearly Rs. 20 million as prize money amongst players during past few years. Last year alone, PFF handed out Rs. 5.1 million to the players featuring in Top-Division while Rs. 1.1 million were given to team or players of the Tier-II PFF League," this is stated by PFF's Director Finance Nadia Naqvi who added that the event will provide second Club Champion after WP Club's triumph last year. The semi-finalist of event will earn berth in 5th National Women Championship. The Women Club Champion will get Rs.50,000 whereas runner up team will walk away with Rs. 30,000 and the third-placed team will be rewarded 20,000. The most valuable player (MVP) will get Rs.5, 000 while leading marksman and best goal-keeper will also pocket Rs.5,000. In order to promote Sportsmanship, PFF Chief had also decided to hand over cash prize of Rs.10,000 to winner of Fair Play trophy. "PFF chief, in order to infuse fresh spirit among footballers, used to increase amount for footballers time and again, in addition to the big amount already reserved for successful teams/individuals of Pakistan Premiership, PFF League, U16, U19, U21 Championship, National Women Championship and National Women Club Championship," added Nadia who recently attended the Member Association and Technical Development Seminar at Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. Earlier, PFF President raised the daily allowance (DA) of the officials and players of various Pakistani soccer teams and prizes/bonus of Pakistan Premier Soccer League. "The players, administrators, coaches, referees can not give their best unless they feel financially secure and PFF President is well on the way to eradicate the burden they are facing. PFF increasing monetary benefits for footballers so as to create more charm and luster in the game of football for the players. She gave the example of cricketers who earn bumper money yearly apart from their match fee and sponsorships. "The time he (Faisal) took over, the Pakistani footballers, on foreign visits, were given Rs. 100per day but he enhanced the amount to $ 20pd, raised it to $25 and now the players are getting $50 per day," he added. Pakistani team which opposed Asian Champion Iraq in 19th World Cup Qualifiers in 2007 was the first to receive the revised Daily Allowance. There is also increment for Age-Group teams of Pakistani who will appear in AFC U13, U14, U16 and U19 events besides South Asian Games and Olympic Soccer. The officials will receive $ 30pd instead of $15pd while the amount of players has been increased from $10pd to $25pd. She concluded: "It is Faisal's dream to see youth of the country express their desire to become Zeshan, Essa or Jaffar, like they want to be Shoaib or Imran. "The lucrative awards will surely change the mind of the Pakistani's sportsmen and more and more youngsters will join the game of football. The funds, PFF getting from FIFA or other sponsorships deal, will solely belongs to players and will be spent on them."
