Qadri dares govt to arrest, deport him

LAHORE - Dr Tahirul Qadri has stated that he will return to Pakistan on June 23, as scheduled, disregarding all reports that the government plans to arrest or deport him on arrival.
In an interview to a TV channel on Sunday, the Pakistan Awami Tehrik chief dared the government to arrest or deport him if they have the courage.
He said the government stood unnerved and such plans were reflective of their state of mind.
Dr Qadri said there would be no justification for any such action as he had committed no illegality and was not planning to do anything.
“I am for upholding the Constitution, democracy and peace. I am returning home to give people real democracy, restore their suspended rights, restore the prestige of the Constitution and State institutions, and bring an end to the system of loot and plunder”.
The PAT chief vehemently denied that he was involved in money laundering, an allegation on the basis of which the government plans to proceed against him.
The allegation is being levelled by those who themselves are involved in it, said Dr Qadri.
He claimed that he or his family had never used even a single penny of the Tehrik Minhajul Quran funds. He said, he had dedicated various sources of income to the TMQ.
He alleged that the rulers had $200 billion in foreign banks and they had also built empires (with their ill-gotten money) in a number of countries, including Saudi Arabia, UK, US, Central Asia and some Middle East states.
The thieves are levelling baseless allegations against a man who is custodian (of national assets), Dr Qadri said.
He recalled that the PML-N leaders had instituted some 30 cases against him during the 90s and he was acquitted in all of them. “They are liars”, said Dr Qadri when he was told that the government claimed he did not pay taxes.
He said he had been filing his returns for the past 30 years without fail.  According to him, he paid more than was assessed.
“Their allegations cannot obstruct the revolution”.
He also rejected the allegation that he had used for his political objectives the money of welfare projects.
“We have never used even a single penny of the charity. Nobody in the entire world will be more honest custodian of the trust than us”.
He said he would give the rulers all Tehrik Minhajul Quran assets if they prove their allegation of political use of the charity. But if they fail, they should surrender to the nation their palaces built over 4,000 acres of land, he said.
