LAHORE: The Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has increased the monthly grant of its partner schools from the ongoing month. According to the revised schedule, the foundation will now pay to its partners Rs450 at elementary level, Rs500 to matric (arts), Rs600 to matric (science), Rs700 to higher secondary (arts) and Rs900 to higher secondary (science) students.
“This increase will help the partners to improve their quality of education,” said PEF MD Nawazish Ali while addressing the meeting of various schools attached with the PEF. The meeting was attended by school owners and teachers from Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad districts.
Addressing the meeting, the MD said that a five year expansion plan has been chalked-out to accommodate out of school children. Under this plan, 200 news schools will be partnered during the current fiscal year, besides giving educational vouchers to 50 thousand children who otherwise cannot go to schools because of lack of various socio-economic resources. He said the PEF is doing a remarkable job by serving the ‘un-served’ communities and international donors have reposed their full confidence over the foundation. The UK will provide 70 million pounds aid to the PEF to educate the out of school children during the next five years. It is expected that this grant will help to educate a total of 4 million children, he added. –Staff Reporter
